Kurgan Schools Cancel Classes for Both Shifts Due to Cold

In Kurgan today, January 23, classes for students in grades 1 through 11 of the first and second shifts have been canceled. They will be held remotely, according to the city administration«s website.
According to the Kurgan Center for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring, the morning temperature in the city was -34°C (-29°F). During the day, it is expected to be between -26°C (-15°F) and -31°C (-24°F).
The abnormally cold weather with temperatures as low as -42°C (-44°F) will also persist on December 24. The Hydrometeorological Center and the Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM) warned about this the day before.
On the night and morning of January 24, temperatures in the Trans-Urals region are expected to range from -32°C (-26°F) to -37°C (-35°F), with some areas dropping to -42°C (-44°F). During the day, it will be between -25°C (-13°F) and -30°C (-22°F). Over the weekend, the night and morning temperatures will repeat. On Saturday daytime, temperatures will be as low as -30°C (-22°F), and on Sunday up to -28°C (-18°F).
