Kazan to Announce 'Buran' Plan. What Does It Mean?

Due to heavy snowfalls, the «Buran» plan will be introduced in the capital of Tatarstan starting this evening. The Kazan mayor«s office reported this.
The special regime will start at 6:00 p.m. and is preliminarily set to last for the next three days.
The mayor«s office explained that after the announcement of the »Buran« plan, city services will switch to an enhanced work regime. Snow-melting stations are operating at full capacity.
For metro passengers during rush hours, the number of electric trains will be increased.
The city administration asked Kazan residents to avoid using personal vehicles and not to leave cars on the roadway.
At the beginning of the week, a snow cyclone that had earlier reached Moscow arrived in Tatarstan. As explained by a climatologist expert to 116.RU, the weather in the republic will return to normal only by the end of the week.
Today, due to snowfalls, bus routes in Kazan and nearby villages have been canceled. Taxi prices and demand have increased. Traffic on some streets has been paralyzed. At Kazan Airport, departure and arrival flights are also being delayed. Passengers are storming buses, and motorists complain about skidding and ice on the roads. The city authorities say that the capital of Tatarstan has been hit by abnormal precipitation.
