In Volgograd, EMERCOM Urgently Warns About Abnormal Frosts

The Main Directorate of EMERCOM of Russia for Volgograd Oblast issued an emergency warning about abnormal frosts on the morning of January 27. According to rescuers, extremely low temperatures will persist for at least a day.
Rescuers and weather forecasters warn — the peak of the cold snap will occur on the evening of Tuesday, January 27.
«From 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on January 27 and 28, abnormally cold weather is expected in the northern half of Volgograd Oblast,» rescuers warn. «The average daily temperature will drop 10–14 degrees below normal.»
Rescuers warn that in such weather, it is safest to stay at home and not go outside unless absolutely necessary. If it is unavoidable, prepare warm and comfortable clothing, do not hesitate to go into stores and entrances to warm up, and protect hands, ears, and nose from the cold. In frosty conditions, alcohol is strictly prohibited — it creates a false illusion of warmth and contributes to hypothermia.
However, it is worth remembering that the cold will end sooner or later. According to weather forecasters, by the afternoon of January 28, a warming to 5–10 degrees below zero (23–14°F) is expected, and in some places, the air will warm up to -1 (30°F). In Volgograd, it will be even warmer — only 4 degrees below zero (25°F).
