“Today I went for lunch, I almost ended up in the trauma center a couple of times,” wrote a reader to us.

“On Friday I went for shawarma, two people fell in front of me,” another city resident recounted.

Specifically, residents named several problem areas. For example, ice is observed in the city center on sidewalks along Maxim Gorky Street, Republic Street, and 50 Let Oktyabrya Street. There are also difficulties on the roads — on the Chelyuskintsev Bridge, on Alebashevskaya Street, and in the Zarechny District.

For some, the ice has already led to a doctor«s visit. Here’s what Tyumen resident Grigory told us:

“The roads are terribly slippery. There are many injured people in the trauma center now. My acquaintance fell on 50 Let Oktyabrya Street, between Melnikaite and Odeskaya Streets. Why aren’t the roads being sprinkled with sand, ash, or salt?” the man wonders.

We have reached out to the Tyumen mayor«s office for a comment to find out how streets are currently being treated for ice. A response is awaited.

Such ice has formed, in particular, due to the cold weather. Previously, we reported that the frost is not planning to retreat yet. To find out how long the harsh winter will continue, read here.
