Heavy Snow and Blowing Snow Forecast for Irkutsk Oblast

Meteorologists have issued a warning about worsening weather in Irkutsk Oblast on January 25. In some areas of the western, central, and southern districts, heavy snow and blowing snow are expected, according to the Irkutsk Hydrometeorological Center website. We are publishing a detailed weather forecast for Sunday.
In Irkutsk Oblast, at night in central areas and during the day in southern districts, moderate to locally heavy snow is possible; in northern districts, light snow; in the morning, fog in some areas. The wind is variable at 5–10 m/s, with gusts up to 13 m/s in places, and blowing snow. Temperatures at night: -25 to -30°C (-13 to -22°F), with cloud cover -15 to -20°C (5 to -4°F); during the day: -10 to -15°C (14 to 5°F), in low-lying areas -20 to -25°C (-4 to -13°F). In northern and Verkhnelensk districts, locally at night: -42 to -47°C (-44 to -53°F), during the day: -31 to -36°C (-24 to -33°F).
In Irkutsk, it will be cloudy with clearings, at night light snow, in the morning and during the day moderate snow, wind southeasterly 3–8 m/s changing to northwesterly 6–11 m/s, temperature at night -17 to -19°C (1 to -2°F), during the day -12 to -14°C (10 to 7°F).
On Lake Baikal, at night mostly no precipitation, in the morning and during the day light to locally moderate snow, in the southern part moderate to locally heavy snow, wind 6–11 m/s, with gusts 15–20 m/s in places, temperature at night -20 to -25°C (-4 to -13°F), with clearing down to -35°C (-31°F); during the day -13 to -18°C (9 to 0°F), locally down to -23°C (-9°F).
As clarified by the Main Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations for Irkutsk Oblast, in such weather, snowpack and ice may form on roads, leading to an increase in traffic accidents and fires in residential and industrial buildings. In case of an incident, call 101 or 112.
