Following frosts of -30°C (-22°F), a heat wave will cover Magnitogorsk. But it won«t last long and will be replaced by frosts, MGORSK.RU reported from the Chelyabinsk Hydrometeorological Center on Tuesday, January 27.
As the head of the weather forecast department, Yekaterina Vykhodtseva, said, today will be the coldest day of the week. Then, a daily temperature swing of 20 degrees Celsius (36°F) is forecast.
«On average, night temperatures will be around -10 to -13 degrees Celsius (14 to 9°F). Daytime warming will be around -6 degrees Celsius (21°F). But this heat wave will last in the coming days, until the end of the month. In the first week of February, another cold snap will begin. At night, it will be around -20 degrees Celsius (-4°F), during the day around -10 degrees Celsius (14°F),» clarified Yekaterina Vykhodtseva.
In addition to temperature swings, forecasters predict strengthening winds.
«With the spread of the warm air mass, we will see a strengthening of the wind. The feeling of warm temperatures will be disrupted by gusty south-westerly winds. Significant gusts of up to 12-13 meters per second are expected. Then the wind will change to easterly and north-easterly, and due to the wind, it will feel colder,» added the forecaster.
Recall that severe frosts persisted in Magnitogorsk for two weeks. Due to the cold, school lessons were repeatedly canceled for students, the ice rink and tubing track in a large park were closed for visitors, volunteers patrolled the streets, and for those freezing, a mobile heating point was opened.
