Governor Chibis faces sharp question on medical oddities

Andrey Chibis was asked at a press conference whether the healthcare system in the Murmansk region should be revised, citing several personal experience stories as examples.

— A person who cannot walk or stand cannot be transferred from one department to another, literally from the third to the second floor, in one day. A doctor«s quote: »Some of us won«t get paid.» Another example: a person with rotting tissues is sent home without examination or medication, — said Anna Prudnik from «Region 51».

— Regarding what you say, that a person with rotting tissues is sent home, we will conduct an inspection. I personally periodically deal with appeals, including in my comments, and fortunately, many of them turn out to be untrue. When you or loved ones are sick, emotions run high. A vivid example: «We waited for an ambulance for 3 hours.» What is an ambulance? 20 minutes — that«s the regulation for arrival in life-threatening situations. When there is suspicion of a heart attack, stroke, stab wound, and a number of other cases. But when we investigate such comments, it turns out the situation is — a temperature of 38°C (100.4°F), a person calls an ambulance, and here the regulation is 2 hours, — said Chibis.

The governor noted that failures exist not only in the Murmansk region, but all of them require inspection.

— In general, our doctors are very worthy. The overwhelming majority of doctors and medical workers sincerely and qualitatively do their job. Overall, in terms of lives saved indicators, we are in 3rd place among the leaders. But every failure requires detailed assessment.

The press conference was very emotional in parts, at one point, Andrey Chibis sincerely admitted, who he»d like to give a smack.
