Specialists from the company «Rosseti» are working around the clock, but the situation is complicated by bad weather and difficult terrain — the accident area has many steep slopes. Authorities held a meeting of the emergency situations commission. All services are now working in close cooperation.

Due to the prolonged accident, an emergency regime has been introduced in the region.

An emergency situation (ES) regime is a special legal regime introduced by authorities in cases of accidents, dangerous natural phenomena, disasters, or epidemics that threaten people«s lives, property, or the environment. It ensures the mobilization of forces to protect the population, allows restricting access to the disaster zone, and suspends the activities of organizations.

— For the residents of the region, the introduction of the ES regime does not entail changes in daily life, but it is necessary for us to attract additional equipment and materials from private companies, — the governor reported.

To speed up restoration work, additional teams have already been sent to the accident site, and specialized equipment will arrive soon.

Recall that a heightened readiness regime was introduced in the Murmansk region due to power outages. This decision was made at a meeting of the operational headquarters. Street lighting was temporarily turned off in Murmansk.

The press service of «Rosseti Severo-Zapad» (Rosseti North-West) reported that the cause of the outage was a technological failure on an overhead power line. Later it became known that 5 pylons collapsed. Trolleybuses in Murmansk changed their routes.

The Prosecutor«s Office of the Murmansk region has already launched an investigation due to mass power outages. A criminal case has been initiated. It turned out that the pylons had been in service for almost 60 years.

In the Leninsky District, rotational power outages have been introduced. The addresses where electricity will be cut off are being updated. Murmansk residents were told where they can go to warm up and charge electronic devices.

City entrepreneurs are ready to provide food from their main menu at a discount. Also, interactive maps with useful addresses have been prepared for citizens.

The consequences of the accident continue to be eliminated; «Rosseti Severo-Zapad» has brought additional snowmobiles and all-terrain vehicles to the emergency site, and the first pylons have already been delivered to the Arctic region from Karelia. Meanwhile, communication disruptions are being observed in the region. Major city hotels have joined in to help residents: they can charge devices and eat at a discount.

All important and up-to-date information about the power outage in Murmansk and the region is being published in an online broadcast.
