Fiery Dawn Over Moscow as Grey Sky Turns Yellow

Crystal frost and light steam over the roofs — Muscovites were greeted by a colorful dawn this morning. On Friday, January 30, the sun finally peeked out from behind the clouds, flooding the sky with yellow hues. We publish a selection of morning shots.

Despite the severe frost, Muscovites« morning was brightened by an incredible dawn. By 8 a.m., the air temperature in the capital dropped to −17.1°C (1°F) — the third coldest reading since the start of this winter.

«Today the capital region will be under the influence of a ridge of the cold Scandinavian anticyclone. Advancing from the north, it will reduce the amount and density of clouds, minimize the probability of precipitation, and intensify the frost,» wrote meteorologist Mikhail Leus on his Telegram channel.

Muscovites are already actively publishing shots of the morning sun. After all, such a sight is rare from behind the clouds, so city residents are catching every moment.

«It was so joyful to wake up to the sun after all the snow collapses and the grey Moscow sky,» wrote our reader MSK1.RU.
Moscow is covered in snow, but that«s no reason to stay at home. We share ideas in the Friday lineup of where to go in the coming days: exhibitions, concerts, festivals, workshops, and more.
