On January 23, the press service of the Capital Construction Fund confirmed that the demolition of the tiles is part of a major facade renovation. This measure was coordinated with the Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture.

«The condition of the tiles did not allow for a complete cleaning of the element. Currently, demolition is being carried out; if well-preserved sections are found, they will be preserved,» explained the Fund«s press service.

As soon as weather conditions permit, construction workers will move on to repairing the brickwork and installing new tiles. Their appearance will be as close as possible to the historical original and has also been approved.

According to the official portal «Our Petersburg», the building was constructed in 1838.
