Today, a noticeable cold snap has arrived in St. Petersburg. The sky is covered with light clouds, but sunny clearings are possible during the day.

The regional hydrometeorology service issues weather forecasts for northwestern Russia.

According to the forecast from the Federal State Budgetary Institution «North-Western Administration for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring», January 22 in the city will be cloudy with clearings and no significant precipitation. The wind will be easterly and weak. The air temperature at 6 a.m. was -7.1°C (19°F), with a daytime forecast of -8 to -10°C (18–14°F). Icy conditions persist on the roads. Atmospheric pressure will rise slightly.

Sunrise today will occur at 09:34, sunset at 16:46. The length of daylight will be about 7 hours and 12 minutes.

Over the next two days, the cold spell will intensify.

  • On January 23, nighttime temperatures will drop to -13 to -15°C (9–5°F), locally to -18 to -20°C (-0–-4°F). Daytime temperatures are expected to be -11 to -13°C (12–9°F).
  • On January 24 (Saturday), nighttime temperatures are forecast at -15 to -17°C (5–1°F), locally -20 to -22°C (-4–-8°F), with daytime temperatures of -12 to -14°C (10–7°F), in some areas down to -17°C (1°F).
No precipitation is expected on these days.
