Bitter Cold to Grip Volgograd Oblast, -30°C Expected

Bitter cold is approaching Volgograd Oblast. According to meteorologists, in some areas of the region, the temperature will drop to -30°C (-22°F). In the city, it will be slightly warmer, but not by much. Here«s what the weather has in store for the next three days.
On January 26, during the day, temperatures are expected to be -12 to -17°C (10 to 1°F) with wind up to 11 m/s. At night, the temperature will drop to -20 to -25°C (-4 to -13°F), and under clear skies, it could reach -30°C (-22°F). In the city, it will be slightly warmer: -14 to -16°C (7 to 3°F) during the day and -20 to -22°C (-4 to -8°F) at night. Meteorologists warn of ice on the roads.
On January 27, wind gusts will reach 12 m/s. Across the region, daytime temperatures will be -12 to -17°C (10 to 1°F), and nighttime temperatures will be -20 to -25°C (-4 to -13°F), with clear skies possibly bringing it down to -28°C (-18°F). In the city, daytime temperatures will hold at -12 to -14°C (10 to 7°F), and at night they will drop to -21 to -23°C (-6 to -9°F).
On January 28, the wind will strengthen to 13 m/s. In some areas of the region, light snow will fall. Fog is expected at night and in the morning, with ice on the roads. During the day, thermometers will show only -2 to -7°C (28 to 19°F), and at night — -15 to -20°C (5 to -4°F). In the city, daytime temperatures will be -3 to -5°C (27 to 23°F), and at night — -15 to -17°C (5 to 1°F).
Meanwhile, in a large village in the Leninsky District, water and heating suddenly disappeared during the severe frost. The day before, in Zaplavnoye, two pumps burned out, halting the boiler house operation. Residents are forced to buy water in stores and warm themselves with heaters. Mass complaints about cold in apartments continue to come from residents of Volgograd.
