On the site of the former «Green Corner,» a landscaped area will appear. Project documentation is already in place, and possibly this year, the work will begin under the auspices of the V.K. Arsenyev Museum of the History of the Far East, said museum director Viktor Shalai.

The Sappers Redoubt on Neibut Street should not remain vacant. Landscaping work was supposed to start last year, but was postponed for objective reasons. The main plans include connecting the wasteland on the hill, where a market used to be, with residential quarters in the lowland. The Sappers Redoubt is to become a historical, cultural, and natural recreation area within large microdistricts.

According to Shalai, this is not the most attractive site for tourists, but it is necessary for the quality of life of city residents. He noted that the «Green Corner» should no longer be a wasteland; it needs to be made so that people can comfortably walk through this microdistrict from Balyaeva Street towards the old greenhouses and Green Boulevard.

If a well-maintained and well-organized area with developed infrastructure is created in this district, including a visitor center, cafes, tour routes, viewing platforms, and various services for local residents, then this place will be perceived as a full-fledged urban quarter.

After lengthy legal battles in November 2023, the regional government transferred the land plot into perpetual use to the Arsenyev Museum, and since then it has been a protected cultural heritage site where any construction or business activities are prohibited.

However, this did not deter car sellers — they continued to display their goods on the roofs of caponiers and set up a tire dump on the territory. Then they had to be forcibly removed from there. And in December 2023, a large-scale evacuation of new Japanese cars from «Zelenka» began. Most sellers dispersed the cars to courtyards around the city, while some moved their goods to the car market in Ussuriysk.

There was a plan to build a new market; for this, the sellers agreed with the tenant of the plot in the Nadezhdinsky District, near the De-Friz — Novy — Sedanka — Patrokl interchange. But the idea did not appeal to local residents of the SNT «Serebryanka» (a horticultural partnership), and they created a petition against it. So far, the petition has not yielded results, but the land plot has attracted the attention of the prosecutor«s office, which started an inspection.

We have told the full story of this place in an article, and we are collecting news related to the car relocation and new plans for this land in a special feature.
