At a press conference, Andrei Chibis was asked a question about the reorganization of budget institutions.

— There were many fears among people who primarily work in these institutions. In your opinion, has the reorganization justified itself? Did it yield real savings? We know there were difficult moments as well, — asked a journalist from RIA Novosti.

— We were forced to launch it not because we really wanted to. But the savings from the measures taken amounted to 4 billion rubles (approximately $44 million at current rates). You know that the minimum wage has increased — 62,300 rubles (about $692) with our northern allowances. We pay the northern allowances from the regional budget. The cost of compensating for the minimum wage increase is 3.6 billion rubles (approximately $40 million at current rates). If the reorganization measures had not been carried out, I don«t understand where we would have gotten this money, — said Chibis.

The head of the region noted that there were recorded instances of salary reductions for kindergarten teachers.

— We opened an anonymous call center because it was obvious that according to reports and numbers, everything is fine, there are no complaints, but something is off. When I held a forum with young teachers, there were also kindergarten teachers. I realized there is a problem. But there is also a vertical system: ‘Just try complaining to the governor!’ And we uncovered this, opened a call center, — said Chibis.

The governor emphasized that optimization was necessary and the government could not have acted otherwise.

All interesting and important things from the event we publish in our online broadcast. Journalist from 51.RU managed to ask a question about fish — read what the head of the region answered.

The press conference of Andrei Chibis lasted more than four hours. Journalists, bloggers, as well as administrators of public pages and channels gathered: we showed what treats they were greeted with at the event.

The first question asked to the governor was about gas prices. Next, Andrei Chibis answered whether the deadlines for major repairs would be accelerated. He was also asked what will happen with garbage in the region and whether new production facilities will appear.

Journalist from 51.RU Alexandra Balaba asked the governor if it«s possible to do something about fish prices: according to Vladimir Putin Russians lack this product in their diet.

The press conference was very emotional in parts, at one point, Andrei Chibis sincerely admitted who he»d like to punch in the face.

Many topics were raised at the meeting with journalists: what savings in the budget sphere will lead to, why snow in Murmansk is black again, what is happening with medicine, how to speed up the process of resettlement from dilapidated housing.
