Today, Moscow is experiencing a massive snowfall: traffic jams in the capital and flight delays at the airport. Perm is expecting similar snowfall this week. According to Doctor of Geographical Sciences Andrey Shikhov, it will be the strongest of this winter.

Andrey Shikhov told 59.RU that on Friday, January 30, long-awaited warming will come to Perm, but it«s unlikely to make the weather comfortable: the city will be covered by a heavy snowfall. According to the forecaster, it could be the strongest since the start of winter. The Doctor of Geographical Sciences forecasts that over 20 centimeters (8 inches) of snow will fall in Perm, and up to 30 centimeters (12 inches) in the south of the region.

«More than half of the monthly precipitation norm could fall in Perm, and up to three-quarters of it in the south of the region,» Andrey Shikhov told 59.RU. «The current Moscow snowfall will reach us in a significantly weakened form. Our precipitation will mainly be associated with the cyclone that will dump snow on Moscow tomorrow and into Thursday night.»

The warming in Perm will last only one day. In the south of the Perm Krai, temperatures will briefly rise to -5 °C (23 °F), in Perm it will be -8 to -10 °C (18 to 14 °F).
