A 195-seat school-kindergarten will be built in the village of Betenkes, Verkhoyansky District, Yakutia, in memory of the village head Vyacheslav Sleptsov who died in the Special Military Operation (SVO). The republic«s budget has allocated 40 million rubles (approximately $444,000 at current rates) for the construction, according to the State Procurement website.

According to the design and estimate documentation, the educational institution will have 75 places for kindergarteners and 120 for schoolchildren. In February of last year, the head of Yakutia instructed to include the construction in the regional investment program. A land plot has been allocated for the construction.

Vyacheslav Sleptsov became the head of Betenkes in 2023 while on leave from military service. This was the first case in the country where a soldier from the active army was elected to a leadership position in a municipality. Vyacheslav was a senior rifleman in a squad of one of the assault companies of the 5th Guards Combined Arms Red Banner Army of the Zhukov Order of the Eastern Military District. He died while performing a combat mission on the territory of the Donetsk People«s Republic (DPR) in December 2024 near the settlement of Makarovka, and was awarded the medal »For Strengthening Combat Fellowship«.

Vyacheslav Sleptsov himself worked on the design and estimate documentation for the school-kindergarten, and it was finalized by his colleagues from the district administration. According to the project, the educational institution must be built by December 2026. Bids for the competition are accepted until February 6 inclusive.
