Voronezh Elementary Students to Learn Remotely Due to Frosts

Severe frosts have arrived in Voronezh at the beginning of February — weather forecasters warn that temperatures may drop to -29 degrees Celsius (-20.2°F). Because of this, some classes in city schools will be sent to distance learning on February 2 and 3. This was announced by Mayor Sergey Petrin.
Students in grades 1-4 will study remotely for two days. If any parents cannot leave their child at home for some reason, they will be accepted at school. Meanwhile, kindergartens will operate as usual. However, parents are asked not to take their children to kindergartens in the severe cold if possible.
Meanwhile, the regional Ministry of Education has recommended that schools in the region cancel classes according to the following scheme:
at –25 degrees Celsius (-13°F) and below — for students in grades 1–4;
at –27 degrees Celsius (-16.6°F) and below — for students in grades 5–8;
at –29 degrees Celsius (-20.2°F) and below — for students in grades 9–11.
The final decision on canceling lessons is made by the administration of each school.
