Tatarstan teaching dynasty reflects on generational changes
The teaching family from Tatarstan has maintained its educational influence for over a century.
Ilgizya Gumarova and her mother Firdaniya Valiullina belong to a large teaching family from Tatarstan, with a dynasty spanning 110 years. In an interview with 116.RU, they discussed the evolution of their careers and the differences among students across generations. For more details, watch the video.
Firdaniya Valiullina, who dedicated 40 years to teaching, said that children used to show respect to their teachers. Educators were seen as authority figures by the students.
«I never complained; I had good discipline. We organized various events, they loved the subject, they loved me, and I loved them. Even now, I remember, and they still congratulate me often. They were good kids, of course, there were all kinds, but mostly good ones. My husband and I worked together; for example, I taught eighth grade »A«, and he taught »B«. That»s how it was. The students called me «mother» and him «father», so we were authoritative figures in our time,« Firdaniya recalls.
Her daughter, who taught physics for 10 years, notes that students have always varied from one period to another.
«Children and youth are always children; they»re always restless. Some are very curious, others haven«t yet engaged and find it hard to grasp physical phenomena. There have always been diverse students. But each era has its own characteristics. When we were growing up and my mother was teaching, teachers were highly respected individuals. They were the ones imparting knowledge and shaping character,» Ilgizya Dzhamilovna explains.
We previously provided a detailed account of the Safiullin — Nabiullin — Kiyamov — Valiullin — Zaripov dynasty. Their story began in 1915 when Firdaniya«s aunt and her husband donated one of their homes to serve as a school. Since then, nearly every other family member has pursued a career in education.
