Students of the Specialized Educational and Scientific Center of Ural Federal University (SUNTS UrFU) have also switched to studying from home on January 23 and 24. This fact was confirmed by the academic director of the center, Maxim Ryabtsev.
When deciding whether to send their children to school, parents refer to the education department«s order »On the Organization of the Educational Process During Periods of Low Temperatures«. The document specifies specific temperature thresholds that allow keeping a child at home.
According to meteorologists, the cause of such severe cold is an anticyclone. It is forecasted that frosts of around -30 degrees Celsius (-22°F) will persist in the Urals until Saturday, January 24.
