In Yekaterinburg«s Lyceum No. 159, a mandatory requirement has been introduced for all students to install the messenger app MAX.

For this purpose, a special meeting is scheduled for January 26, where schoolchildren will download the app onto their phones under the observation of teachers.

As parents note, MAX was initially positioned as an alternative means of communication, but now its use has become compulsory. «Now it»s mandatory, although initially MAX was advertised as a communication alternative,« commented among parents.

The educational institution explained that this day is also declared a «Day Without Mobile Phones» with the aim of limiting the use of gadgets during lessons.

The official goal of the event was stated as «preserving the health of students, reducing visual load, and forming a responsible attitude towards the use of digital devices.»

The press service of the Yekaterinburg administration reported that federal legislation mandates interaction between participants in the educational process through the national messenger app MAX.

Previously, similar requirements were imposed on other groups:

  • parents of schoolchildren and kindergarten pupils were asked to register in the app;
  • at Polzunov College, students who refused to install MAX were openly threatened with expulsion.

The functionality of the messenger continues to expand: residents of Sverdlovsk Oblast can already use it to book medical appointments.
