Acting Minister of Science and Higher Education Natalya Vikulova stated that many workers from other regions are employed on a shift basis in the Transbaikal region and that these positions should be taken by local residents. She said this during a live broadcast by TsUR on January 23.

\«We need to balance the economy»s demand and personnel training. We have a high percentage of shift work at enterprises, and we must replace shift workers from other regions with our own specialists. So that local residents get high-paying jobs. Why do people from other regions come to work here, while we don«t train our own people in these specialties?\» said Vikulova.

She noted that the authorities« task is to study the personnel needs of each industry, not to wait for requests for training.

\«We shouldn»t wait for someone to come and say: «We need 92 engineers and four sound engineers.» We must look at what we have ourselves and consider the requests of other departments. For this, there will be close coordination with the newly established department of labor and employment,\« added the acting minister.
