FEFU to Partially Drop Bachelor's and Master's Programs

Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) has been included in the list of 11 universities for a pilot project to change the higher education system. This was reported to the VLADIVOSTOK1.RU correspondent by the institution«s press service.
The corresponding decree was signed by Vladimir Putin, and the news of transitioning from the familiar Bologna system of «bachelor»s — master«s» to the scheme of «basic higher — specialized higher» surprised residents of Primorye. The university clarified that the transition to the new model will be phased and only 25% of programs will switch to the new system. Which ones — will be determined later by the Russian government.
During the transition, FEFU will continue to admit applicants to specialist«s, bachelor»s, and master«s programs, and current students will continue to study under the current programs.
The report that FEFU is abandoning bachelor«s and master»s degrees as part of the educational reform is not true. The university did enter the list of participants in the pilot project to improve the higher education system in accordance with the Presidential Decree, however, the transition to the updated model will be carried out gradually and will affect only part of the training programs at the first stage.
On January 26, we reported that the patriotic center «Warrior» will open a representative office in Primorye Territory on the basis of Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU). The proposal to open a branch in Primorye was previously made by Yuri Trutnev, Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation and Plenipotentiary Representative of the President in the Far Eastern Federal District.
