Dauria Inter-University Campus Plan Approved in Chita, Zoning Revealed

The main volumetric and planning solutions for the inter-university campus «Dauria» have been approved in Zabaikalsky Krai. This was reported on 21 January on the official portal of the region with reference to the Ministry of Science and Professional Education of Zabaikalsky Krai.
They noted that the planning solutions for the Dauria campus were developed taking into account the configuration of the land plot and provide for functional zoning of the territory. The project includes public, recreational-sports, and residential zones, as well as the territory of a boarding lyceum.
The center of the public zone will be a forecourt, around which the key objects of the campus will be located: an educational and laboratory building with a technopark, IT park and coworking spaces, a congress and exhibition complex, and a three-star hotel with 200 rooms.
The recreational and sports zone will unite a multifunctional sports complex with a phygital center, swimming pool and climbing wall. It will be connected by a warm passageway to the building of the boarding lyceum for 400 students, designed for the education and accommodation of students in grades 8–11. The residential infrastructure of the campus will be represented by a one-star hotel for 2.5 thousand people, including accommodation for students, student families and teachers. The buildings will be united by a system of common entrance groups and warm passageways.
According to the project developers, its implementation will make it possible to form a modern educational campus with developed academic, residential and sports infrastructure.
«The next stage is the development of design and estimate documentation and obtaining a positive conclusion from the Main State Expertise. After that, a contractor will be selected, and work will begin directly at the construction site,» the ministry noted.
Construction of the first stage of the Dauria inter-university campus in Chita will begin in 2026 and will be carried out under the national project «Youth and Children.» The regional portal reports that project funding of over 20 billion rubles (about $222 million at current rates) is provided from federal and regional budgets, the presidential Far Eastern subsidy, and extra-budgetary funds. The inter-university campus with a total area of about 110,000 square meters will be able to accommodate 5,000 students.
Discussion of the campus construction in Chita began in 2022. In 2023, Murmansk, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Ulan-Ude and Chita were included in the third stage of the national project «Science and Universities» by instruction from President Vladimir Putin, which he gave following the Eastern Economic Forum. The inter-university campus in Chita was included in the city«s master plan and is being designed within the boundaries of the future Preobrazhensky microdistrict — opposite the under-construction Romanovsky microdistrict along Romanovsky Tract. The development site will also be bounded by Olympic Proezd, known as the »drunk« road. The project is being handled by the company »Open Workshops« — it was allocated 292 million rubles ($3.2 million) from a single presidential subsidy.
However, it was previously stated that the construction would require about 32 billion rubles ($356 million), 16 billion of which are federal, and the rest from investors. In September 2025, a government commission chaired by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin decided to allocate the first 3.5 billion rubles ($39 million) to Zabaikalsky Krai for construction. More details about the campus concept and construction project were written in our article.
