Commission to inspect Zabaykalsky school over deputy's groundwater concerns

A special commission will inspect a school in Mogzon village, Khiloksky District, Zabaykalsky Krai, the problems of which were reported by State Duma deputy Andrei Gurulev. On 23 January, the press service of the Ministry of Construction of the region informed a correspondent of Chita.Ru about this.
Earlier, Gurulev wrote in his Telegram channel that in the school, which has been in operation for three years, groundwater is entering the basement, and cracks have already appeared on the walls. In his opinion, if the situation is not addressed, over time the building will begin to shift.
«The commission, under the leadership of the Ministry of Construction of Zabaykalsky Krai, with the participation of the administration of Khiloksky District and the capital construction department of Zabaykalsky Krai, will conduct an on-site inspection of the school in Mogzon, based on the results of which appropriate decisions will be made for the prompt elimination of the current situation,» the ministry commented.
The construction of a 620-place school-kindergarten on piles began in Mogzon in 2019, and contractors already then did not want to start work on the site due to its complexity. The only participant and winner of the repeated auction for the construction of the building was the company Dom 2000 LLC from Ulan-Ude (known, among other things, for the construction of the new regional children«s clinical hospital in Chita), and the previous contractor Megastroikompleks was removed from the project by the Ministry of Construction of Zabaykalsky Krai due to delays in the work schedule. Russian Railways (RZD) allocated 61.4% of the total cost of the school.
In summer 2024, it became known that the Control and Accounting Chamber (KSP) of Zabaykalsky Krai, on the governor«s instruction, assessed the quality of the construction organization of the school-kindergarten opened in autumn 2023 in Mogzon village and identified a multitude of shortcomings and defects requiring elimination, and they led to a cost overrun of 62.9%.
