Chita school goes remote due to cold, awaits heating fix from TGC-14

The administration of School No. 49 named after Hero of Russia Yegor Sekerzhitsky in Chita is waiting for TGC-14 (a heating utility) to solve the problem with the parameters of the heat carrier supplied to the educational institution, which are currently below standard. The comment of director Yelena Azbukina was published on her Telegram channel on January 28 by the press secretary of the city education committee, Geser Radnaev.
It was previously reported that all students of School No. 49 were transferred to distance learning due to the cold in the institution«s premises. The prosecutor»s office has launched an inspection due to the situation at the school.
“In connection with the fact that the temperature regime in the school does not meet our sanitary and epidemiological standards, I turned to my founder (the education committee) with a request to allow me to transfer the educational process to a distance format. Yesterday we transferred the primary school to distance learning, and today it was decided to transfer the main and high schools to a distance learning format. An order has been issued on how the process will be organized; it is necessary to comply with all specific features of distance learning. Teachers are ready, this format is organized. A letter has already been sent to TGC-14, we are waiting for their actions. As soon as the temperature balance in the school improves, we will return to the traditional format of learning,” said Azbukina.
Radnaev, in a conversation with a Chita.Ru correspondent, specified that on the morning of January 28, the temperature of the water supplied to the school was at 61 degrees (142°F), now it is 90 degrees (194°F). Since the parameters in the school are currently reduced, it will take 5–7 days to restore the temperature regime in the building.
It was not possible to obtain a comment from representatives of TGC-14 at the time of publication. The editorial office of Chita.Ru had already requested information about the situation on the morning of January 28.
