In Chelyabinsk schools, lessons have been cancelled on Friday, January 23, due to frost. This was announced on the evening of January 22 by the unified duty and dispatch service. Due to «unfavorable weather conditions,» students from first to eleventh grades of both shifts will stay at home. According to the weather service 74.RU, at the time of publication of this news, it is -30 °C (-22 °F) outside, and on Friday morning it will be one degree colder.

Recall that last week, lessons in Chelyabinsk were cancelled three times, including for grades 1 to 11 of both shifts. Thermometer readings then dropped below -30 °C (-22 °F) (and in some places it was even -45 °C (-49 °F)). However, over the weekend, a sharp warming arrived, and Epiphany was celebrated with comfortable temperatures.
Meanwhile, according to the hydrometeorological center«s forecast, January 2026 in the Chelyabinsk region will not be abnormally cold.
