Bodaibo relocates students after utility failure

Students of School No. 3 in Bodaibo (Irkutsk Region, Russia), which is in the zone of an emergency water and heating shutdown, will be temporarily transferred to another educational institution. This was reported on the Telegram channel of the local administration.

From February 3, the educational process will be organized in the classrooms of School No. 1. First-graders will study from 8:00 to 11:30, other classes from 12:35 to 16:55. All students will continue to be provided with hot meals as before.

For students in grades 1-4 who need transportation, a bus will be organized. Transport will also be provided for schoolchildren from the villages of Kolobovshchina and Bisyaга.

Moreover, there is a public transport stop near School No. 1.

The educational process is organized according to the schedule, which class teachers will inform parents about through parent and child class chats.

In Bodaibo, problems with heating and hot water have been observed for the fourth day. The central water pipeline has frozen, leaving more than 1,300 people without heat. Governor Igor Kobzev called the situation in the city «critical,» sending his first deputy Roman Kolesov and Minister of Housing Policy and Energy Anatoly Nikitin there. In the city a state of emergency has been in effect since January 31.

Residents of Bodaibo told how they are surviving in their homes without heating in 40-degree frosts (104°F). Moreover, city residents have united and created a mutual aid chat: they deliver food, water, and heaters to each other. On the afternoon of January 31, in Bodaibo the head of EMERCOM (Ministry of Emergency Situations) Vyacheslav Fedoseyenko flew to personally monitor the situation.

Yevgeny Yumashev asked residents, whose homes are without centralized heating, to move to relatives or temporary accommodation points. Also, the mayor of Bodaibo told when heat is planned to be restored in the city. On help employees of Irkutsk management companies have flown. Their resources are also provided by JSC Vysotaishiy, ZTK Lenzoloto, PJSC Gazprom Dobycha Irkutsk, as well as the airline IrAero, which ensures the delivery of people and cargo. In the city already a ground water pipeline is being laid.

All those affected by the accident will receive compensation payments.
