Utility bills rise annually. This year, on January 1, tariffs increased by 1.7%, and in October, a further increase is expected — by another 15%. This was stated during a live broadcast on VKontakte by the head of the State Committee on Prices of Yakutia, Nikolay Bochkov. He explained to Yakutians what is causing the price rise and who can expect a 30% subsidy.

Nikolay Bochkov highlighted three reasons affecting the rise in the cost of housing and communal services. First and foremost is the lack of state regulation of prices for most fuel resources.
«Even if we say that in our republic, the extraction of primary resources is carried out in very large quantities, their sale is based on market mechanisms. Either open competitive procedures or exchange purchases. Such types of fuel as coal, oil, gas condensate, wood chips are not regulated by the state. Only gas is subject to regulation,» said Bochkov.
The second factor is complex logistics, requiring the attraction of large loans. According to Bochkov, fuel delivery takes on average two years: what is «now burning in boiler houses» was purchased back in 2024. The high key rate of the Central Bank and strict credit policy directly affect the expenses of resource supply organizations.
The third factor was the increase in the minimum wage. According to the head of the department, last year wage growth was 16.7%, and this year — 20.7%.
«In the housing and communal services complex, the average monthly wage of the main production personnel remains at a fairly low level — around 76,000 rubles (approximately $840 at current rates). At the same time, the minimum wage has been growing at a high rate since 2024. The wage fund is calculated based on the tariff scale and the minimum rate for a first-grade worker,» clarified Nikolay Bochkov.
According to him, a 30% subsidy is due to large families (regardless of their income). Pensioners, disabled people, and participants of the Special Military Operation can expect additional support measures. If housing and communal services expenses exceed 15% of the family budget, everyone has the right to targeted assistance through the Subsidy Agency.
At the end, Nikolay Bochkov added that, despite the rise in the cost of communal services, residents of Yakutia pay only 24% of it, and the remaining 76% is compensated by the budget. In 2026, 55 billion rubles (approximately $600 million at current rates) are allocated for these purposes.
