Chinese Companies Monopolizing Russian Logistics, Says Company Founder

At the Rostov Region Trade and Industry Chamber, Natalya Besedina, founder of the logistics company VTA Line, stated that Chinese companies are beginning to dominate the logistics industry.
In her view, this problem has taken on a political character rather than remaining purely economic.
«There is a capture of the logistics field. Chinese companies are not only organizing deliveries from China but are already handling transportation within Russia, as foreign companies are permitted to conduct cabotage,» explained Besedina.
She believes that the current situation is due to a lack of regulation by the Russian government.
Foreign companies, according to Besedina, should not have equal opportunities with domestic ones in the internal market.
«We need to approach the government with measures to limit the Chinese capture of the logistics industry,» declared the founder.
First Deputy Governor Alexei Gospodarev responded that he was hearing about this issue for the first time.
He announced the preparation of a large-scale study of the logistics market in the Rostov region as the center of the Priazovye macroregion, to understand cargo flows and key players.
«Are they literally capturing? On a national scale or only in the Rostov region?» clarified Gospodarev.
«They are on a national scale, including the Rostov region. Today, the main flow of goods from China is handled by Chinese companies,» replied Besedina.
Also, the agroholding Damate, which produces duck and turkey meat in the Rostov region, has complained about unfair competition from China.
