Free Entry to Yaroslavl Museums: Schedule and Details

On January 25, several museums in Yaroslavl will offer free admission. We are publishing a detailed schedule of events.

The Yaroslavl Museum-Reserve will celebrate its 161st birthday on Sunday, January 25. To mark the occasion, free admission will be provided to the main exhibitions of the museum-reserve itself, as well as to the Military Glory Museum, the L.V. Sobinov Memorial House-Museum, and the «Cosmos» Museum located in the village of Nikulskoye.

Special conditions apply for visits. As commented by the museum-reserve: «A general ticket is required to enter the grounds and most exhibitions/expositions. For tours, film screenings, and the »Treasures of Yaroslavl« (12+) exposition, separate tickets must be purchased. This can be done at the museum-reserve»s ticket offices or online.«

Tickets can be booked on the official website of the Yaroslavl Museum-Reserve.

With the general ticket on January 25, the following will be available:

  • The museum-reserve grounds from 09:00 to 20:00.
  • Bell ringing at 12:00.
  • Expositions «History of the Yaroslavl Region 16th–18th Centuries» (0+), «The Tale of Igor»s Campaign« (6+), as well as exhibitions »Yarmanka« (0+), »Yaroslavl Feast« (0+), »Yaroslavl Electrotheatre. Early 20th Century« (6+), and »1914 — 1918: Stories of People from the Forgotten War« (6+) from 10:00 to 18:00.
  • Exhibition »Axes and Bears« (0+) from 10:00 to 20:00.

With a separate ticket, the following visits are offered:

  • Exposition «Treasures of Yaroslavl» (12+) at 10:30, 11:30, 12:30, 14:30, and 15:30.
  • Documentary film «The Church of John the Baptist in Tolchkovo Sloboda» (12+) at 11:00 and 14:00.
  • Reportage «Frescoes of the Transfiguration Cathedral» (12+) at 12:00 and 15:00.

Also available with separate tickets are tours:

  • Of the exposition «History of the Yaroslavl Region 16th–18th Centuries» (12+) at 10:30 and 16:00.
  • Of the exposition «The Tale of Igor»s Campaign« (12+) at 11:00 and 16:30.
  • Of the museum grounds at 11:30, 12:30, and 14:30.
  • For family visitors of the exhibition »Yarmanka« (6+) at 12:00.
  • Of the exhibition »1914 — 1918: Stories of People from the Forgotten War« (6+) at 13:00 and 15:00.
  • Of the exhibition »Treasures of Yaroslavl« (12+) at 13:30 and 17:00.
  • Of the exhibition »Axes and Bears« (12+) at 14:00 and 16:30.

The L.V. Sobinov Memorial House-Museum (25 Sobinov Street) on January 25 will operate according to the following program:

  • Museum visit (0+) from 10:00 to 18:00.
  • Screening of the film «Leonid Sobinov. Poet on Stage, Poet in Life...» (12+) at 12:00.
  • Presentation of the painting by A.A. Mukosey «L.V. Sobinov»s Dacha in Krasnaya Polyana« (12+) at 13:30.
  • Tour »Music of the Era. Veniamin Basner« (12+) at 15:00.

At the Military Glory Museum (44a Uglichskaya Street) the following is planned:

  • Museum visit (6+) from 10:00 to 18:00.
  • Lecture «900 Days. Little-Known Aspects of the Siege of Leningrad» (12+) at 12:00.
  • Talk «General Frost» about the influence of Russian frosts on the course of the wars of 1812 and 1941 (12+) at 14:00.

The «Cosmos» Museum in the village of Nikulskoye offers:

  • Museum visit (0+) from 13:00 to 20:00.
  • Tour of the exposition (6+) at 14:00.
