Chita book sales up on biographies, memoirs, encyclopedias

Experts from Avito report that book sales in Chita increased by 25% in 2025 compared to 2024, with a surge in non-fiction categories.

In 2025, book sales on Avito in Chita increased by 25% compared to 2024. The demand for non-fiction literature grew particularly noticeably — sales in this category quadrupled over the year, Chita.Ru reported on January 23 from the company«s press service. Most often, residents of Chita bought biographies, memoirs, encyclopedias, and reference books.
The leaders in growth rates among non-fiction books were biographies and memoirs — interest in them increased 9.5 times. Next are encyclopedias and reference books, which were purchased 8.5 times more often. Third place was taken by publications on business, economics, and finance — their sales grew eightfold.
Further in the ranking are books on culture, art, and fashion — demand for them increased 7.5 times. Rounding out the top five are publications on psychology and self-development with sales growth of seven times.
Interest in fiction also grew. Across Russia, the greatest dynamics were shown by science fiction — sales of books in this genre increased 3.5 times. In second place was mystery with a threefold increase, in third — detective novels, which were bought twice as often. Following are humorous works with a 24% increase in sales, as well as dramas — they were purchased 9% more often.
