Sochi pensioner strangles elderly mother over accusations

The investigative department for the Khostinsky district of Sochi of the Investigative Committee of Russia for Krasnodar Krai has charged a 61-year-old local resident with murdering her own elderly mother (Part 1, Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

As investigators established, on the morning of January 23, 2026, the woman came to her mother«s apartment on Pyatigorskaya Street. The mother began accusing her daughter of inadequate care. The conflict escalated into physical violence, and the accused strangled her mother.

A relative of the accused, upon learning of what happened, contacted law enforcement agencies. At the investigator«s request, the court placed the pensioner in custody.

«Investigation into the criminal case continues with a set of investigative actions aimed at gathering and securing the evidence base. A complex of necessary forensic examinations has been appointed,» the press service of the Investigative Committee of Russia for Krasnodar Krai reported. The pensioner faces a long prison term.
