Director arrested in Nizhnevartovsk over boulevard construction funds

A criminal case has been initiated in Nizhnevartovsk for large-scale fraud in the execution of a municipal contract. The head of the firm «Investstroyregion,» which was building the extension of Komsomolsky Boulevard, has been arrested.

According to the investigation, from June to July 2025, the general director of the commercial organization, acting in collusion with the chief accountant and an individual entrepreneur, fraudulently embezzled over 6.5 million rubles ($71,000 at current rates) in budget funds. These funds were intended for improvement works on Komsomolsky Boulevard from Mira Street to Komsomolskoye Lake under a municipal contract.

The investigative department for Nizhnevartovsk has initiated a criminal case based on signs of a crime under Part 4, Article 159 of the Russian Criminal Code (fraud committed by a group of persons in collusion on a particularly large scale).

A preventive measure in the form of detention has been chosen for the general director of the company.

«Investigative actions are being carried out in the criminal case to establish all the circumstances of the crime and identify additional episodes of unlawful activity by the accused,» the Investigative Committee reported.
