Court changes Haval thugs' sentence for beating soldier

The attackers had a pistol but also used improvised means.
The Novosibirsk Regional Court has changed the sentence for Abubakar Tsitskiev and Islam Radzhabov, who attacked a soldier on 29 August 2024. This was reported to NGS by the victim«s representative Natalya Kharitonova.
The court reviewed the decision regarding compensation for moral damages — the convicted will pay the beaten soldier Dmitry Zyuzkov 150,000 rubles ($1,500 at current rates) instead of the previously assigned 90,000 rubles ($900 at current rates), the lawyer clarified.
In the appeal, the victim also asked to change the punishment for the convicted and send them to a penal colony. The prosecutor supported the demands, but the court left the decision unchanged. According to Natalya Kharitonova, Dmitry Zyuzkov plans to file a cassation appeal against the verdict and seek to change the suspended sentence to imprisonment.
«We believe that the suspended sentence does not correspond to the principles of proportionality of the act committed and its public danger,» the lawyer commented.
The incident occurred on the evening of 29 August last year. Novosibirsk serviceman Dmitry Zyuzkov was beaten by several people. The conflict began after the man made a remark to the driver of a Renault Logan for careless driving, after which three people got out of another car — a Haval Jolion without license plates — and began beating the victim.
It all happened near the walls of the Novosibirsk Military Institute, whose representatives watched and did not intervene. On 8 October, the Investigative Committee reported the initiation of a criminal case and the detention of two suspects. The other participants in the conflict were not identified.
Abubakar Tsitskiev was sentenced to 2.5 years of probation with a 2-year probationary period. Islam Radzhabov was given a similar sentence.
Earlier, four young men beat a student in the center of Novosibirsk — the attack was caught on video.
