Courier Faces Prison for Stealing Graphics Card

In Volzhsky, a courier for one of the marketplaces stole a powerful graphics card from a parcel on New Year«s Eve. After committing the theft, he quit his job, and when the police tracked him down, neither the device itself nor the proceeds from it were found.
The cost of the graphics card is estimated at 65,000 rubles (about $722 at current rates). For a similar amount on marketplaces, one can purchase NVIDIA models from the fourth or fifth series.
The disappearance was discovered in the Ilovlinsky District of the Volgograd Region. The press service of the regional Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (GU MVD) reported: The detainee, while performing his duties of delivering goods, opened the box and stole the graphics card. Then he sold the stolen item and disposed of the money at his discretion.
It is unclear whether the motive for the crime was the sharp increase in prices of computer components. Recently, for example, the cost of RAM has increased by more than 300%. If previously such a shortage was associated with cryptocurrency miners, now it is largely due to the active development of neural networks.
This is far from the first case of theft by marketplace employees. In January, in the Sovetsky District, a 19-year-old employee of a pick-up point took out clothing and shoes worth 22,000 rubles (about $244), which she then sold at the market. Another incident occurred two months earlier in Volzhsky: an 18-year-old employee of a pick-up point organized a scheme with dead souls,
ordering goods under fictitious names and appropriating them. The total damage then exceeded 65,000 rubles (about $722).
