In the Baryshsky district, between the villages of Starotimoshkino and Kalda, wolves were spotted, as reported by Ulyanovsk residents on social media. The predators came right out to the road. Previously, wolves have been seen in the Veshkaymsky, Bazarnosyzgansky, and Kuzovatovsky districts.
As explained by the regional Ministry of Natural Resources, this is a quite common occurrence. In winter, wolves often migrate from place to place in search of food. They frequently appear near populated areas, attacking domestic animals—dogs and sheep. Last spring, the region even permitted wolf hunting to regulate their numbers.
Wolves rarely attack people, but Ulyanovsk residents are still advised to take precautions when encountering them. In the evening and night hours, it«s better not to walk in the forest alone. If you spot an animal—don»t panic and don«t try to approach it. The best option is to slowly back away without making sudden movements.
