Samara woman shelters wounded, frozen bird of prey

A resident of Samara Oblast found an injured Eurasian sparrowhawk near her home and turned to social media for help. Concerned citizens in Syzran rallied to assist the bird, which is now receiving care.

«Yesterday, near my house, I found this wonder, the bird was frozen... Its wing looks damaged. Today it got to its feet, but doesn»t fly. It«s a Eurasian sparrowhawk, we don»t know what to do with it. In our city, there«s no one who would take it...» — the woman wrote in the group Homeless Animals of Syzran. The bird is eating well while in the care of its temporary rescuer.

The resident of Syzran is keeping the hawk at home and feeding it meat. The hawk doesn«t fly, it only walks around the apartment. But help came from volunteers.

«The bird will be taken away, an organization from our city responded! The hawk will go to Samarskaya Luka National Park, where it will be treated and released. The world is not without kind people!» — wrote Marina Zasorina.

While the woman waits for the specialists, concerned residents of Syzran have come together and offered to chip in for gas.
