Five puppies born at FSIN kennel in Arkhangelsk

Five puppies have been born at the breeding kennel for service dogs of Correctional Colony No. 1 of the Russian Federal Penitentiary Service (FSIN) for the Arkhangelsk Region in Arkhangelsk. They will soon begin training for service.

The German shepherd Idji gave birth to the new litter during the New Year holidays. Canine specialists were on duty near her for a week to ensure everything went without complications.

In her five years of life, this is Idji«s third litter. The puppies were given the names Persei, Patron, Parma, Perry, and Prima.

«For now, they are exploring the world with closed eyes, crawling around their mother. The future service dogs are under the close supervision of experienced canine specialists and a veterinarian from the first days of life. At two months of age, the little ones will begin mastering the basics of service training. They are in for an exciting learning process in the form of play, during which specialists will develop the natural instincts and abilities of the four-legged trainees,» the regional FSIN said.
During the training, the puppies« character traits will be recorded, and each will show their strengths. Then specialists will determine their specialization and give recommendations on their field of application.
Idji«s previous offspring are already serving in canine units not only in the Arkhangelsk Region but also in the Russian FSIN for the Republic of Karelia, the Main Directorate of the FSIN for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region, and the FSIN for the Novgorod Region.
Currently, the FSIN kennel houses five breeding shepherd dogs of the German and Belgian shepherd (Malinois) breeds.
